The Local2030 Coalition, which is part of UN-Habitat’s Global Solutions Division, aims to accelerate the localization of the 2030 Agenda by enhancing coherence and efficiency in UN actions. The Coalition is co-chaired by UN-Habitat and FAO and involves 14 UN entities, ensuring that global goals align with local contexts and needs. The Coalition engages various stakeholders, including local governments, civil society, academia, the private sector, and youth, to co-create solutions for systemic transformation, focusing on those who are furthest behind.

Job Overview:
The consultant will work under the guidance of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat Team Lead to support the implementation of the project 'Enhancing the role of municipalities to accelerate SDG Localization.' This role involves organizing events and meetings, collecting and documenting municipal solutions, and facilitating knowledge-sharing processes. The consultant will also be responsible for promoting the project's objectives and managing online platforms for information sharing. The position requires a proactive approach to support the daily implementation of project activities, monitor progress, and report on challenges. The consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring that local stakeholders are engaged in the design and implementation of development agendas, thereby tailoring global processes to local realities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties include supporting the implementation of Road to(s) processes, organizing high-profile events such as workshops and consultations, and capturing key messages and lessons learned from these events. They will assist in the collection and documentation of municipal solutions, ensuring alignment with global mechanisms. The consultant will coordinate knowledge and policy-related processes, serve as a focal point for meetings, and track progress while reporting on developments. Additionally, they will manage logistics for meetings, prepare necessary materials, and support the daily operational processes of the project, including hiring services and drafting reports. The consultant will also contribute to the communication efforts by managing online shared spaces and producing content for the Local2030 website and social media.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public affairs, political science, social sciences, development studies, or a related field. A minimum of two years of experience in project implementation, monitoring, advocacy, and organizing global multi-stakeholder events is required. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of SDG localization through prior professional experience in relevant programs, strategic initiatives, or policy development.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as public affairs, political science, social sciences, or development studies is essential for this position. This educational background ensures that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to contribute effectively to the project.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of professional experience in supporting project implementation and monitoring, as well as experience in advocacy and communications. Candidates should have a proven track record of organizing global, multi-stakeholder events and meetings, demonstrating their ability to manage complex logistics and stakeholder engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this consultancy role. Additionally, fluency in German and Spanish is desired, as these languages will facilitate communication with various stakeholders. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in a multilingual environment.
