Job Overview:
The Durable Solutions Assistant is a vital role within UNHCR, primarily focused on providing clerical and administrative support to durable solutions operations. This position requires a protection-oriented professional who possesses a robust background in law, international law, international relations, social sciences, or a related discipline. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining frequent contacts with colleagues within the same office to exchange information and will also engage with external partners to manage logistics related to durable solution activities. The role demands excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Farsi, as well as the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and competing priorities. The Durable Solutions Assistant will assist in identifying and registering candidates for voluntary repatriation, local integration, and resettlement, ensuring that all documentation is prepared in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position is crucial for ensuring that persons of concern receive timely and accurate support in their pursuit of durable solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Durable Solutions Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in identifying and registering candidates for voluntary repatriation and preparing the necessary documentation for their return in line with Voluntary Repatriation SOPs; identifying and registering candidates for local integration and preparing documentation for submission to local authorities or partners according to Local Integration SOPs; participating in the identification of resettlement needs of refugees in accordance with Resettlement SOPs; updating electronic databases for resettlement, voluntary repatriation, and local integration; processing documentation to ensure that persons of concern receive required documents for their durable solutions in a timely manner; preparing statistical and ad-hoc reports to ensure accurate information is available and shared with relevant offices and partners; entering information into available databases in line with SOPs; supporting the identification and management of risks and seeking to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Farsi. They should be team players, capable of multitasking, and able to work under tight deadlines and competing priorities. Work experience in interpreting/translating in a refugee context, counseling refugees, and managing individual cases is considered an asset. Proven knowledge of proGres and SOPs in the operation is also advantageous. Additionally, candidates should have strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Productivity Software and Database Management.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a High School Diploma, along with one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates may hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education. While specific fields of education are not mandated, a background in law, international relations, social sciences, or related disciplines is preferred. Certifications such as the HCR Protection Induction Program are essential for this role.

Experience:
Candidates are expected to have at least one year of relevant experience for the G4 level position. This experience should ideally be in a context related to refugee assistance, protection, or durable solutions. Diverse field experience and familiarity with interviewing techniques are desirable attributes that can enhance a candidate's suitability for this role.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English and Farsi is mandatory, as these are the working languages of the duty station. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
