Job Overview: The Monitoring and ReportingAnalyst plays a crucial role within the Syria Programme team, providing essential support to ensure that program planning, implementation, and reporting are coherent, results-based, and aligned with corporate requirements. This position involves close collaboration with program colleagues, operations teams, regional advisors, and implementing partners to strengthen evidence generation, support quality assurance of program results, and ensure timely and accurate reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. The Analyst contributes to effective management of UN Women programs in Syria by providing substantive inputs to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation. The role also includes guiding and facilitating the delivery of UN Women programs by monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring the appropriate application of systems and procedures, while also developing enhancements as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring and Reporting Analyst include contributing technically to the development of program strategies in Monitoring and Evaluation, providing substantive inputs to the design and formulation of program/project proposals, and identifying areas for support and intervention related to the program. The Analyst will provide technical support to the implementation and management of the Syria program, lead the implementation of program activities, coordinate calls for proposals, review and monitor the submission of financial and narrative reports from implementing partners, and train partners on Results Based Management. Additionally, the Analyst will monitor progress of implementation using results-based management tools, draft reports on monitoring missions and program results, and provide inputs to financial reports. The role also involves building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, participating in donor meetings, and providing technical support to inter-agency coordination to ensure coherence and alignment of UN Women programs with other partners in the country. The Analyst will also develop background documents and coordinate advocacy campaigns and knowledge management methodologies related to the Syria Program.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification would be an added advantage. The candidate must possess strong program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, as well as good knowledge of Results Based Management. Analytical skills and the ability to gather and interpret data are essential, along with the ability to identify and analyze trends, opportunities, and threats to fundraising.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. A project/programme management certification is considered an advantage.
Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in monitoring and evaluation is desirable, as is experience coordinating with government agencies and/or donors. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required, along with experience in web-based management systems and modern ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is desirable.
Additional Notes: The position does not currently involve supervisory responsibilities, but may include direct supervisory or matrix management relationships in the future depending on program expansion.
