Job Overview: The Consultant for Inclusive Insurance will play a crucial role in defining Mercy Corps' value proposition and partnership models for advancing inclusive insurance. This position requires a deep understanding of the insurance sector and its intersection with disaster risk management. The consultant will work at three levels: macro (engaging with national governments and insurance partners), meso (supporting aggregators like agribusinesses), and micro (facilitating access to insurance for small businesses and individuals). The consultant will also analyze Mercy Corps' past experiences with various insurance models and develop a strategic roadmap that includes a comprehensive SWOT analysis and actionable recommendations for engaging with new insurance partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for identifying opportunities for Mercy Corps at macro, meso, and micro levels, developing a clear value proposition, and creating a donor engagement plan. Specific deliverables include a Value Proposition and Recommended Modalities Presentation, complementary donor research, and a Strategic Written Report summarizing findings and recommendations. The consultant will collaborate closely with the Sr Director of Economic Opportunities and the Sr Advisor of Financial Inclusion, as well as other team members involved in institutional donor engagement and philanthropic growth.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate experience in the private insurance sector, with a strong understanding of current industry trends and challenges. Solid experience in financial services and insurance strategy development is essential. In-depth knowledge of weather-based insurance models, both indemnity and parametric, in developing countries is required.
