Job Overview: The Field Coordinator serves as the delegated director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for a specific region within South Sudan where Solidarités International operates. This role involves proposing a regional strategy that aligns with the geopolitical and humanitarian context and ensuring its implementation once validated. The Field Coordinator is responsible for overseeing that projects are executed in accordance with the organization's charter and internal procedures. This position requires mobilizing the necessary material and financial resources for program operations and supervising resource management. The Field Coordinator also coordinates the teams in the region and is responsible for their security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. The role involves managing the base and sub-base, which includes interaction with local authorities and humanitarian coordination systems. The Field Coordinator must support the growth of the base and assist newly nationalized managers in adapting to their roles, improving processes, and ensuring that ongoing projects effectively target those in need while maintaining accountability to the communities served.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Coordinator's duties include:
Proposing and implementing a regional strategy based on the humanitarian context.
Ensuring that all projects comply with the Solidarités International charter and internal procedures.
Mobilizing material and financial resources necessary for program execution.
Supervising resource management and ensuring accountability.
Coordinating teams and ensuring their security in the assigned region.
Acting as the direct contact and representative of the Country Director.
Managing the base and sub-base operations, including logistics and coordination with local authorities.
Supporting the expansion of the base and the adjustment of managerial positions.
Maintaining effective communication with other humanitarian organizations and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, management, or a related field. Strong knowledge in team management and mentoring is essential. The ability to handle various issues, self-update, and learn quickly in a dynamic environment is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate excellent representational skills and the ability to liaise with INGOs, other agencies, authorities, and donors. A solid understanding of security management and humanitarian issues, including IDPs and camp management, is required. Proficiency in writing and editing quality reports in English is necessary, along with the ability to work in a multicultural environment and exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to take initiative and make decisions autonomously are essential traits for this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline. This advanced education is critical for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and effectively managing teams and projects in challenging environments.
Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in humanitarian work, particularly in roles that involve team management and project coordination. Prior experience working with Solidarités International or similar organizations is considered an asset. Experience in South Sudan or similar contexts would also be beneficial, as it provides insight into the local challenges and operational dynamics.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with local populations and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position offers a permanent expatriate contract with a salary calculated based on the expatriate salary scale, starting at €2,800 per month. Additional benefits include covered per diem and accommodation during deployments, one day off for each weekend spent in the field, and 25 days of paid vacation. Health and life insurance, as well as repatriation coverage, are fully provided. The organization allows for free choice of location outside of deployment periods, whether in France or abroad. The role requires adaptability to a volatile security context, with specific curfews in place for Malakal and Renk, and a fluid security situation that can impact access to field activities.
