Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Assisting in the implementation of Registration and Data Entry Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with UNHCR's relevant standards and policies.
Supporting the renewal process of documentation for asylum seekers and refugees, ensuring compliance with established SOPs.
Engaging in filing activities to maintain organized records.
Participating in counseling and reception activities alongside colleagues in the unit to provide support to individuals seeking assistance.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of the registration unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria to qualify for the internship, including:
Being a recent graduate (having completed studies within the last two years) or a current student in a graduate or undergraduate program at a university or higher education institution accredited by IAU/UNESCO.
Having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to the work of UNHCR, demonstrating a foundational understanding of humanitarian issues and refugee protection.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes a minimum of two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field. Candidates should be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a program that equips them with knowledge pertinent to the operations of UNHCR, such as international relations, social sciences, or law.
Experience: While prior work experience is not mandatory for this internship, candidates are expected to have a foundational understanding of the humanitarian sector and the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers. Any volunteer work, internships, or academic projects related to refugee issues or humanitarian assistance will be considered an asset.
Languages: The position requires a good command of spoken and written Arabic, French, and English. Additional Notes: This is a full-time internship role with working hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Sunday to Thursday, totaling 40 hours per week. Interns who do not receive financial support from an external source will be provided with an allowance to help cover food, local transportation, and living expenses.
