Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Statistician include: assisting in the design and management of statistical data collection and evaluation; providing training and technical support on data collection programs; conducting methodological research to develop or revise statistical standards; preparing draft technical documents and reports for international meetings; organizing seminars and expert meetings; guiding and supervising staff; contributing to data collection and analysis; identifying trends and patterns; and performing other duties as assigned. The role requires a strong focus on professionalism, communication, planning, and organization to ensure effective project management and data dissemination.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in statistics, economics, business administration, sociology, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of statistical data analysis and project management principles.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced level university degree in relevant fields such as statistics, economics, business administration, or sociology. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience. Additionally, completion of programs in data analytics or related fields is considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of statistical data related to sustainable development is required. Experience in project management and supporting statistical capacity-building efforts in countries is also desirable, indicating a need for candidates with a solid background in statistical methodologies and practices.

Languages:
English is the required working language for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level III in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French and Russian are considered desirable, as well as Arabic, Spanish, or Chinese (Mandarin), with varying levels of proficiency required for each language according to the UN Language Framework.
