Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the implementation of project portfolios in line with action plans, disseminating information about protection services to participating populations, and assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of protection activities. The role requires preparing progress reports and other documentation as required by the Protection Leader, organizing tasks according to priorities and standards, and maintaining knowledge in the area of specialization to enhance technical assistance and support to the team. Adherence to organizational policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines is crucial, as well as planning field visits, including donor mobilizations, and maintaining regular contact with local authorities and implementing partners as directed by the supervisor. The role also includes delivering inputs for regular and ad-hoc reports to donors regarding protection activities and supporting capacity-building activities for communities and relevant stakeholders on protection-related topics and implemented projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of project portfolios according to the action plan.
  • Disseminate information about protection services to participating populations.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of protection activities in line with humanitarian principles.
  • Prepare and develop progress reports and other documentation as required by the Protection Leader.
  • Organize and execute tasks according to priorities and standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in the area of specialization to provide effective technical assistance and support.
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines.
  • Support the planning of field visits, including donor mobilizations.
  • Maintain regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners as requested by the supervisor. 1
  • Provide inputs for regular and ad-hoc reports to donors on protection activities. 1
  • Support capacity-building activities for communities, government authorities, and other relevant actors on protection issues and projects implemented in the area. 1
  • Manage protection cases and community processes in coordination with the supervisor and collect data for protection monitoring. 1
  • Support the implementation of relevant activities for the SIP as included in the CO Action Plan for the Unit/Team and attend relevant SIP Basic Package training modules. 1
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor to fulfill the objectives of the position.

Required Qualifications:
A university degree in law, social work, social sciences, political science, or related fields is required. Knowledge of national and international legal frameworks regarding human rights and the protection of displaced persons is essential. Familiarity with humanitarian principles and protection principles, as well as an understanding of age, gender, and diversity approaches, is also required. Previous work experience in implementing protection activities, integrating protection approaches, community-based protection, protection monitoring, and case management for internally displaced persons or individuals in need of international protection is highly valued. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Office 365, Excel, Canva, Miro) is necessary, and knowledge of English is desirable.

Educational Background:
A university degree in law, social work, social sciences, political science, or other related fields is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical framework and understanding of the legal and social issues related to protection and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
The position requires prior work experience in implementing protection activities, which may include community-based protection, protection monitoring, and case management for displaced individuals. The level of experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of the protection landscape and the ability to engage effectively with vulnerable populations and stakeholders.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, given the location and target population. Knowledge of English is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication with international partners and stakeholders.
