Job Overview: The Senior security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Associate position at WFP is designed for individuals who will autonomously handle technical and specialized tasks related to security operations. This role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating security activities to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, and operations. The Senior Security Associate will be responsible for analyzing security threats and risks, compiling detailed reports, and making recommendations to optimize security processes. The position requires a high degree of responsibility and initiative, as the incumbent will interact with various stakeholders, including local authorities and UN security personnel. Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze security threats and risks, preparing detailed reports on trends and situations that could negatively impact WFP operations.
Compile and analyze various security-related information, utilizing institutional or local information management tools to produce complex analyses and detailed reports.
Establish and maintain relationships with external actors, including local administration representatives, judicial and security authorities, and NGOs, to facilitate safe access for program execution.
Supervise and coordinate staff activities during field missions, ensuring security assessments are conducted according to WFP standards.
Analyze evaluation reports and security situations post-field missions to design and implement risk mitigation measures.
Advise on security risk management and ensure compliance with UNSMS standards, contributing to the protection of personnel and operations.
Implement Security Risk Mitigation Measures (SRMM) and promote continuous improvements to meet WFP security standards.
Manage and supervise the use of security equipment, systems, and technology, ensuring proper functioning and alignment with WFP standards.
Oversee the implementation of access control procedures at WFP facilities, ensuring the protection of personnel and assets. 1
Plan and coordinate emergency procedures and contingency plans, ensuring they are updated and aligned with WFP standards for effective incident response. 1
Design and facilitate security training programs for staff, ensuring alignment with UNSMS policies and procedures. 1
Supervise and provide on-the-job training to other officials, supporting their professional development and performance.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in supporting security operations and activities.
Experience in providing specialized technical guidance and training to staff within the security domain.
At least five (5) years of experience in data collection and analysis, as well as report writing related to security operations.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
Educational Background:
Completion of secondary education is required.
A post-secondary certificate in Military Sciences, Police Administration, Naval Sciences, Aeronautical Military Sciences, or a closely related field is preferred.
Additional training or certifications in security management or related areas would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, with increasing responsibilities in security operations. This includes experience in providing technical support and training to personnel, as well as a strong background in data analysis and report writing related to security matters.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English or other languages would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: This position is a Fixed Term contract for one (1) year, with the possibility of extension. The role is classified at the GS7 level, indicating a seniority level that requires significant expertise and responsibility.
