Job Overview:
The Health Officer position involves supporting the development and planning of health programs under the supervision of Health Specialists in Bukavu, Bunia, and Kananga. The role requires conducting situation analyses for design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and management, contributing to the establishment of objectives and strategies, and providing technical and operational support throughout the programming process. The officer will also be responsible for monitoring program implementation, evaluating results, and ensuring compliance with organizational rules and donor commitments. This position is crucial in addressing the health needs of children and communities in the DRC, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting millions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and planning of health programs by conducting situation analyses and contributing to the establishment of objectives and strategies.
  • Manage program implementation, monitor resource utilization, and ensure compliance with organizational rules and donor commitments.
  • Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners in understanding UNICEF's health policies and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with government health counterparts and stakeholders to improve program implementation.
  • Identify and share lessons learned to enhance stakeholder knowledge and capacity.
  • Participate in capacity-building initiatives to improve the skills of clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
A university degree in public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy/management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medicine, health education, epidemiology, or a relevant technical field is required. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's core values of care, respect, integrity, trust, accountability, and sustainability.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as public health, nutrition, or health management. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of health programs and policies in the context of the DRC.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or emergency health preparedness is required. Experience within a UN agency or organization is considered an asset, particularly in fragile and humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in French (oral and written) is mandatory. A good command of English and local languages is considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
