Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in the implementation of the ESCWA-UNRSF project, which is centered on enhancing the capacity of Member States in the collection, processing, and analysis of road crash data. This position requires the consultant to develop comprehensive guidelines that outline the project's scope, objectives, and key outputs. Additionally, the consultant will be responsible for preparing a final technical report and contributing to a regional workshop aimed at sharing knowledge and experiences among participating countries. The consultant will work remotely for a duration of one month, providing technical support and expertise to ensure the successful execution of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant on road safety will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
Preparing holistic guidelines that will be disseminated to the countries of the Arab region, ensuring that they are comprehensive and user-friendly.
Contributing to the delivery of capacity-building initiatives and regional workshops, facilitating knowledge exchange among stakeholders.
Preparing a final technical report that summarizes the project's findings, methodologies, and recommendations for future actions.
Supporting ESCWA staff with various tasks related to project implementation, ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives and timelines.
Engaging with stakeholders from the pilot countries (Tunisia, Lebanon, and Qatar) to gather insights and feedback that will inform the project's development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree in management of road safety, engineering, technology, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of three years of professional experience in the field of road safety is required. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of road safety data management tools and applications, as well as familiarity with the Safe System approach and international road safety standards. Proven experience in drafting technical reports or guidelines is essential, and previous experience working in or with countries in the Arab region is desirable.
Educational Background: A master's degree in management of road safety, engineering, technology, or a related field is mandatory for this position. Fluency is defined as a rating of 'fluent' in all four areas (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding), while knowledge is defined as a rating of 'confident' in two of the four areas.
