Job Overview: The Associate Programme Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of various programs and projects within UNODET. This position requires collaboration with key clients to ensure that programs are effectively managed and evaluated. The officer will monitor and analyze specific aspects of program development, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions. The role also involves conducting research, providing substantive support for policy coordination, and assisting in consulting assignments. The officer will participate in survey initiatives, contribute to written outputs, and provide administrative support for meetings and conferences. Additionally, the officer will engage in outreach activities and coordinate budget-related tasks, ensuring that data is collected and analyzed for informed decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programs/projects.
Reviewing relevant documents and reports, identifying problems, and recommending corrective actions.
Conducting basic research on selected aspects of programs and operations.
Providing support for policy coordination and evaluation functions.
Assisting in consulting assignments and developing action plans.
Participating in survey initiatives and designing data collection tools.
Preparing various written outputs, including background papers and reports.
Providing administrative support for meetings and conferences. 1
Undertaking outreach activities and developing training workshops. 1
Participating in field missions and providing substantive support. 1
Coordinating budget-related activities and preparing related documents. 1
Analyzing data and providing insights for decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of theories and concepts relevant to project/program management. They should be able to identify and analyze issues, assist with data collection, and conduct independent research. The ability to manage conflicting priorities, demonstrate professionalism, and incorporate gender perspectives is essential. Candidates should also exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Planning and organizing skills are crucial, as well as accountability for responsibilities and commitments.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or management, hospitality management, social sciences, economics, public administration, finance, accounting, law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/program management, administration, or a related area is required. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in data analytics using tools such as PowerBI and self-service analytics tools (e.g., SAP Analytics Cloud, Qlik, Tableau, SAP Business Objects). Experience in analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and modeling, as well as developing strategic frameworks for multi-partner trust funds, is also required. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of experience working on Digital Cooperation projects. Experience in extra-budgetary fundraising is desirable, but candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE), or the G to P Examination (G to P) are exempt from the experience requirement.
Languages: English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. French is also a working language, but proficiency in English is mandatory for this job opening. Candidates should refer to the UN Language Framework for details on the required language proficiency levels.
