Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer role is crucial for UNICEF Rwanda as it prepares for the new country programme rollout in 202
  • This position will focus on enhancing visibility, branding, and advocacy for UNICEF programmes while strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new funding sources. The officer will lead communications and visibility for the Danish-funded programme titled 'Bridging Rwanda’s Gap: Enhancing Access to Child Health Services and Clean Water' (2027–2029). This initiative aims to increase access to primary health care and immunization services for at least 240,000 children and expand climate-resilient water supply services to reach at least 10,000 people. The role requires a dedicated individual to manage communications, visibility, and partnership development, ensuring effective engagement with media, policymakers, and business networks to achieve results for children in Rwanda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnerships Officer will lead and coordinate all communications and visibility requirements for the Christmas Calendar initiative, ensuring compliance with UNICEF Denmark's visibility guidelines. Key responsibilities include supporting the Danish Broadcasting Corporation during content gathering missions, coordinating with filming crews, and ensuring all necessary approvals from relevant authorities. The officer will also support resource mobilization efforts, communication content production, and donor proposals and reporting. Specific tasks include finding locations for photo shoots, casting children and families for videos, producing high-quality communication materials, and ensuring consent processes and safeguarding compliance for all children featured in communication products. The officer will also coordinate with the Embassy of Denmark in Rwanda and UNICEF Denmark, ensuring high-quality communication materials are produced and accreditation is provided to visiting teams.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a relevant degree in communications, public relations, or a related field. They should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in communication, advocacy, or partnership development, preferably within an international organization or NGO. Strong technical skills in communication strategies, media relations, and partnership engagement are essential. The candidate should demonstrate a deep understanding of the local cultural landscape and have experience working in development or humanitarian contexts.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant area is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education qualifications, as per UNICEF's flexible provisions for education versus experience.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant work experience in communication, advocacy, or partnership development. Experience in managing communications for large-scale projects, particularly in health or child welfare, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local context in Rwanda and previous work with international organizations will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Kinyarwanda is highly desirable. Knowledge of Danish or French would be an asset, as it may facilitate communication with partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy will last for 3.5 months, from January 1 to April 15, 2026, and the consultant will be based in UNICEF premises in Kigali.
