Job Overview:
The Child Protection Officer will work under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, providing technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the programming process of child protection programs/projects. This includes planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on child protection initiatives. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that the programs are effectively designed and executed to achieve desired outcomes. The officer will also be responsible for fostering partnerships and networking to enhance the impact of child protection efforts, as well as innovating and strengthening capacities within the organization and among partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and planning of the Child Protection program, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives.
  • Manage the program, including monitoring and delivering results in accordance with established goals.
  • Provide technical and operational support for the implementation of the program, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Facilitate networking and partnership building with relevant stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building initiatives to strengthen the overall impact of child protection efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in one of the following fields: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or another relevant social sciences discipline. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to child rights and protection, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of child protection and the socio-economic factors affecting children's rights.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and managing social development initiatives related to child protection is required. Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset, as is relevant experience in program development within a UN agency or organization. Additional experience in both development and humanitarian contexts will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in French (both oral and written) is mandatory, while a good command of English is considered an asset. Proficiency in both languages will enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
