Job Overview: The Regional Portfolio Analyst position is crucial for the effective management and monitoring of a portfolio of countries within the UNV's regional framework. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Regional Office Manager and will be responsible for business development, portfolio management, and volunteer mobilization. This role requires keeping abreast of development challenges and priorities in the assigned countries to identify opportunities for volunteer engagement. The analyst will provide technical guidance on volunteerism, facilitate UNV's positioning in strategic forums, and ensure compliance with volunteer mobilization targets. The position also involves building partnerships with UN entities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance volunteer mobilization efforts. The analyst will supervise UNV personnel in portfolio countries, ensuring quality volunteer management and compliance with organizational standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development and Portfolio Management: Stay informed about development challenges in portfolio countries, provide technical guidance on volunteerism, facilitate UNV's positioning in strategic forums, and supervise the performance of the assigned regional portfolio.
Partnerships Building and External Relations: Build relationships with UN partners, participate in inter-agency meetings, and support the dissemination of UNV's global agenda.
Management and Quality Assurance: Supervise UNV personnel, ensure quality volunteer management, oversee recruitment processes, and contribute to knowledge product development.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in Social Sciences, Political Science, Public or Business Administration, Economics, or related fields. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) with additional qualifying experience may be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree or 4 years with a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in managing programs or large portfolios, including partnership development.
Required Skills: At least 2 years of experience in international organizations, preferably within the UN System, and experience in managing teams or project workplans.
Desired Skills: Experience in managing volunteer programs, knowledge of Digital Transformation, partnership building, and advocacy.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, Political Science, Public or Business Administration, or Economics. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) combined with additional qualifying experience may be considered. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of development challenges and the role of volunteerism in addressing them.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Master’s degree or 4 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should ideally include managing programs or large portfolios, with a focus on partnership development and coordination. At least 2 years of experience should be in international organizations, preferably within the UN System, and candidates should have experience in managing teams or project workplans.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of French and Portuguese is desired, as these languages are beneficial for engaging with stakeholders in the region and enhancing communication with partners.
