Job Overview: The Enumerator position is crucial for the successful implementation of FAO's projects in Ghana, particularly those aimed at enhancing climate resilience and improving livelihoods in rural communities. The Enumerator will be responsible for collecting data on various projects and programs, which is essential for facilitating real-time reporting and informed decision-making. This role requires participation in training sessions on research evaluation methodologies and the pre-testing of data collection tools. The Enumerator will engage directly with respondents, ensuring informed consent and maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards throughout the data collection process. The position demands a proactive approach to reporting daily progress, flagging any issues or inconsistencies, and participating in feedback sessions to enhance the quality of data collected. The Enumerator will also undertake other assigned tasks as necessary, contributing to the overall success of the projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Enumerator will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Participating in training on baseline, midline, and endline research evaluation methodologies, as well as pre-testing data collection tools.
Ensuring informed consent is obtained from all respondents prior to data collection.
Upholding confidentiality and ethical standards throughout the data collection process.
Administering survey instruments effectively in the designated project sites.
Reporting daily progress to the supervisor, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Identifying and flagging any issues or inconsistencies encountered during data collection.
Participating in feedback sessions to discuss findings and improve data collection methods.
Undertaking additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support project objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, fisheries, rural development, sociology, social sciences, statistics, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection related to sectors such as agriculture, food security, nutrition, and livelihoods.
A working knowledge of English is essential.
Candidates must be nationals of Ghana or residents with a valid work permit.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as agriculture, fisheries, rural development, sociology, social sciences, statistics, or related disciplines. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of the projects and the data collection processes involved.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, particularly in sectors relevant to agriculture, food security, nutrition, and livelihoods. This experience is vital for ensuring that the Enumerator can effectively gather and analyze data that will inform project outcomes and decision-making processes.
Languages: A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, the ability to communicate in local languages is required, particularly in the Upper East Region (Grune/Kasena/Twi) and the Savannah Region (Gonja/Brifor/Twi). This linguistic capability is essential for engaging with rural communities and ensuring accurate data collection.
Additional Notes: The Enumerator position is expected to be full-time during the data collection period. Candidates should be available to conduct fieldwork in rural settings, which may require the use of a motorbike to reach remote locations. Field experience in northern Ghana, particularly in the Upper East or Savannah regions, is considered a strong asset.
