Job Overview:
The Advocacy & Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and managing NRC's policy, advocacy, and communication efforts in Iran. This position requires a collaborative leader who can effectively identify protection concerns for advocacy, develop and implement advocacy strategies, and ensure that NRC's messaging aligns with global guidance and risk-sensitive approaches. The role also involves overseeing the communication strategy and ensuring coherence between advocacy efforts and programmatic activities. The manager will be responsible for building constructive relationships with external stakeholders, guiding the advocacy messaging, and leading the communication strategy to enhance NRC's visibility and impact in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies in response to prioritized protection issues.
  • Lead and manage a team, fostering people leadership and development.
  • Ensure coherence and synergies between advocacy and programmatic efforts.
  • Conduct systematic training and capacity building for technical staff.
  • Perform protection analysis and prepare public-facing advocacy products.
  • Strategically deliver advocacy messaging through coordination with Country, Regional, and Global Representation Offices.
  • Oversee and guide the communication strategy to enhance NRC's outreach and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other NGOs and stakeholders to develop joint advocacy messages and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess managerial or advisory experience within the humanitarian field, with a strong understanding of displacement-related international legal and policy processes. Expertise in protection principles and advocacy is essential. The role requires fluency in English, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate and advocate for the rights of displaced populations.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in social sciences, international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in advocacy, communication, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">humanitarian law would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in advocacy and communications within the humanitarian sector, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful advocacy strategies. Experience working in complex operational environments, particularly in relation to refugee issues, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Persian or other relevant languages would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Tehran, Iran, with a contract duration of 24 months. The role may require approximately 20% travel. The position is classified as Grade 9 in NRC’s Salary Scale, which includes a competitive compensation and benefits package.
