Job Overview:
The Rehabilitation Specialist will work under the responsibility of the Palestine Technical Head of Programme, contributing to the implementation of Humanity & Inclusion's mandate and 10-year strategy. The role involves ensuring optimal quality and impact of rehabilitation projects in Palestine through effective coordination with global specialists and adherence to HI’s global sectoral quality standards. The specialist will be expected to provide technical support, contribute to project management, and ensure compliance with global strategies. The position also requires participation in advocacy efforts and communication initiatives to enhance HI's local influence and prestige in the rehabilitation sector. The role is critical in responding to the urgent needs arising from the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where many individuals require immediate and long-term rehabilitation services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Expertise: Provide technical input to regional strategies in line with global strategies; ensure technical support to projects; monitor and control the technical quality of rehabilitation activities; contribute to research and innovation projects; and facilitate professional channels within the program.
  • Influence: Represent HI’s technical expertise in local networks; contribute to advocacy and communication efforts.
  • Business Development: Lead context analysis and project design; identify and develop local partnerships; and contribute to major project conception.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: Support emergency preparedness actions and adapt working modalities during emergencies to ensure effective humanitarian response.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in physical therapy and/or occupational therapy. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required, with at least 3 years in the rehabilitation sector, particularly in emergency responses in conflict-affected countries. Proven experience in capacity building, training, mentoring, and remote supervision of staff is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong public relations skills and expertise in supporting vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

Educational Background:
A degree in physical therapy and/or occupational therapy is mandatory for this position. Additional certifications or training in rehabilitation practices, particularly in emergency contexts, would be advantageous.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years specifically in the rehabilitation sector within emergency response settings in conflict-affected countries. Experience in building capacities and mentoring staff is crucial, as is the ability to navigate complex humanitarian environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the rehabilitation program.

The position is for a 6-month international contract starting as soon as possible, with a starting date in early 202
  • The contract includes various benefits such as social cover, unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, medical coverage, and repatriation insurance. The salary starts at 2757€ gross per month, with additional allowances for per diem and hardship based on the location of deployment. The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be provided collectively by HI. Paid leave is 25 days per year, with rest and recuperation (R&R) days based on time spent in Gaza.
