Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician include:
Mechanical assembly of modules using lead or tungsten absorbers and polystyrene fibers.
Participation in the dismantling and reassembly of the LHCb ECAL, ensuring that all components are handled with care and precision.
Design and machining of precision pieces and tooling necessary for the assembly and operation of the ECAL.
Providing mechanical support for test beam campaigns, which involves preparing and maintaining equipment for testing.
Collaborating with other team members to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Adhering to safety protocols, especially when working in radiation areas and during interventions in underground installations.
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace to facilitate effective teamwork and project execution.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess experience with traditional and CNC machining techniques, as well as knowledge of CAD software, ideally CATIA. Additionally, applicants should have experience in the assembly of complex mechanical structures. Familiarity with gluing technologies, 3D printing, and quality control testing is also beneficial. A commitment to learning French is expected, as proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a general secondary education diploma. Candidates must also be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience in Mechanics or a related field since graduation. It is important to note that applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.
