Job Overview: The Registration Associate position is a critical role within the UNHCR's Registration Unit in Rwanda, specifically based at the Nyabiheke Field Unit. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting all registration-related activities, which are essential for the effective management of refugee populations. This includes conducting registration and identity verification activities, responding to inquiries from returnees and other population groups regarding registration procedures, and maintaining accurate records and data related to individuals in registration cases. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Registration Associate include conducting registration and identity verification activities in accordance with local standard operating procedures (SOPs) and registration standards. The incumbent will respond to queries from returnees and other population groups regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and data related to all individuals in registration cases, including returnee cases, is a key responsibility. The Registration Associate will identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required. Collaboration with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation, is essential. The incumbent will also refer cases to other units within the office and implementing partners as necessary, provide statistics and draft reports related to registration and verification data, and perform filing and documentation activities as part of the registration and verification process. Additionally, the Registration Associate will make decisions related to the day-to-day operations of the registration unit and devise efficient and effective registration procedures. Other related duties may be assigned as required.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Registration Associate position include a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Candidates should possess essential skills such as experience in working with UNHCR proGres software, good computer skills particularly in data management, and familiarity with registration processes. Desirable qualifications include training in the basic principles of international protection. Functional skills required for this position include experience in registration, computer literacy, data management, data collection and analysis, and familiarity with refugee systems and applications. Training experience, both virtual and face-to-face, is also beneficial. Experience in an international organization, particularly within the United Nations or similar entities, is considered an asset.
