Job Overview:
The IT Analyst, Data Engineering position within the World Bank's Finance IT unit is a critical role focused on modernizing and optimizing financial data platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing data pipelines and solutions, utilizing tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Dremio, Power BI, and Python-based ETL/ELT processes. This role requires a strong technical background in data engineering and integration architecture, with a focus on delivering actionable insights for finance business teams. The position is designed for a hands-on data professional who can contribute to the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures while ensuring compliance with established standards and best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IT Analyst include:
  • Data Engineering & Architecture: Implement and maintain scalable data pipelines using Informatica PowerCenter, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and Dremio. Develop data integrations and processing using SQL and Python.
  • Analytics Platform Enablement: Prepare curated datasets and dimensional models for analytics use cases, provide technical support for Power BI, and conduct data validation.
  • Technical Mentorship: Review deliverables for alignment with WBG standards, coordinate activities between teams, and serve as a bridge between data engineering and analytics teams.
  • Domain & Data Knowledge Development: Deepen understanding of capital markets data and partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs.
  • Data Governance, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, and Compliance: Apply controls for data privacy, security, and quality, and collaborate with governance bodies to maintain data integrity.
  • Agile and DevOps Practices: Participate in agile ceremonies and utilize Azure DevOps for project tracking.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master's degree in Engineering, Finance, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership role. Proven expertise with Informatica PowerCenter, SQL development skills, and a solid understanding of data modeling and data quality frameworks are essential. Experience in developing Azure data solutions and familiarity with data governance best practices are also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with significant experience in data engineering. The educational background should provide a strong foundation in technical skills relevant to data management and analysis.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role. This experience should include end-to-end ETL/ELT development, performance tuning, and administration of data solutions, as well as experience in managing cross-functional technical teams and delivering projects.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, although not explicitly required.
