Job Overview: The intern for the Cool Coalition will play a crucial role in supporting the Secretariat's efforts to facilitate a global transition to energy-efficient and climate-friendly cooling solutions. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about environmental sustainability and eager to contribute to a significant global initiative. The intern will assist in various tasks related to research, governance, and communication, helping to ensure the effective implementation of the Cool Coalition's workplan. This role will involve collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government representatives, businesses, and civil society organizations, to promote knowledge exchange and advocacy for sustainable cooling practices. The intern will gain valuable experience in project management, event organization, and communication strategies within an international context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the Cool Coalition's objectives. These include: 1) Strengthening partnership governance through knowledge management and logistical support, which involves organizing meetings, managing event logistics, and facilitating working group discussions. 2) Delivering content for outreach and events, including drafting invitations, preparing presentations, and summarizing conference proceedings. 3) Supporting communication efforts by organizing steering committee meetings, maintaining contact databases, and managing social media presence. 4) Assisting in the development of a Cooling Policy Toolkit by conducting online research and supporting planning calls with partners. The intern will also be expected to take notes and contribute to content development for various initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Preferred fields of study include International Relations, Energy Policy, Environmental Technology, or Environmental Science. Proficiency in computer skills and the use of web-based platforms and relevant software is essential. Preference may be given to candidates pursuing a Master's degree. While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. The educational background should be relevant to the internship, particularly in areas related to environmental science, energy policy, or international relations. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required degree must be provided with the application.
Experience: While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to environmental issues, policy analysis, or project management.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of additional UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
