Job Overview:
The Consultant for the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP) will play a crucial role in providing technical support focused on reporting, data analysis, and the detection, quantification, and mitigation of methane emissions. This position involves working closely with OGMP member companies to enhance their data methodologies and provide essential technical feedback to improve their reporting processes. The consultant will also contribute to the annual data review process and assist in developing guidelines and technical documents that support the OGMP's objectives. The role requires active participation in technical calls with upstream members and potential members, advising them on methane emissions sources and related technologies. The consultant will also review implementation plans from upstream companies and provide feedback to ensure compliance with the OGMP's reporting framework, which is designed to standardize emissions accounting practices across the oil and gas sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include reviewing and analyzing annual reports from OGMP companies, assessing the methodologies and technologies they employ for methane emissions detection and mitigation. They will support task forces by drafting guidance materials, participating in calls, and providing written feedback on deliverables. The consultant will also assist in organizing technical workshops, annual conferences, and other events related to methane emissions reduction. Regular technical calls with member companies will be a key responsibility, providing them with the necessary technical feedback and guidance. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the development of guidelines and other supporting materials to help companies meet the OGMP reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field. A PhD is considered an asset. Alternatively, a first university degree combined with five additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Applicants should have at least three years of relevant work experience in environmental science, policy analysis, or advocacy, with a proven track record of working in the upstream sector. Expertise in methodologies and technologies for methane emissions detection, quantification, and mitigation is essential. The ability to work independently while supporting a multi-disciplinary team is crucial, as is the capacity to prioritize and organize a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as environmental science or engineering. A PhD is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates with a first university degree and significant additional experience may also be considered, highlighting the importance of practical experience in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant work experience in fields such as environmental science, policy analysis, or environmental advocacy.
