The United Nations Information Centers (UNICs) are part of the Information Centres Service (ICS), Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The UNICs serve as the principal source of information about the United Nations system in various countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Their mission is to promote public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating information materials and engaging with local and regional partners. The UNIC in Manama is dedicated to bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves, ensuring that the local audience is well-informed about the UN's initiatives and objectives. The organization operates in multiple countries and aims to foster a better understanding of global issues and the role of the UN in addressing them.

Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located at the United Nations Information Centre in Manama, Bahrain, and is designed for individuals who are either enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program or are in their final academic year of a first university degree program. The internship is expected to last between three to six months, depending on the intern's background and the specific office assignment. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in various activities that support the UNIC's mission, including content creation for online platforms, social media management, event organization, and media monitoring. The role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in a dynamic international organization while contributing to the UN's efforts in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the internship position include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting content creation for the UNIC's online platforms, including social media accounts, to enhance the visibility and reach of the UN's messages.
  • Monitoring and moderating the UNIC's online platforms, including social media, to ensure engagement with the audience and the effective implementation of social media campaigns.
  • Assisting in the design, production, and dissemination of information materials that promote the UN's activities and initiatives.
  • Providing support in organizing events and meetings that facilitate dialogue and engagement with local stakeholders.
  • Preparing media monitoring reports to track the coverage of UN activities and assess public perception.
  • Offering translation support to ensure that information is accessible to a diverse audience, particularly in Arabic and English.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study that closely relates to the internship type is necessary. Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program or have completed such programs. Proof of eligibility must be provided with the application.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program.
