Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer position at UNRWA involves providing direct supervision of guard forces services at the Area Office and its facilities. The incumbent will report to the Chief Area Office (CAO) and receive technical guidance from the National Security Officer at the Field Security and Risk Management Office (FSRM). The role requires the development and implementation of security risk management processes and security plans, ensuring compliance with established security policies and guidelines. The Security Officer will manage security access control procedures and conduct periodic assessments of premises to ensure effective security measures are in place. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for training personnel in security protocols and responding to security incidents, ensuring timely reporting and communication with relevant authorities. The position demands a proactive approach to maintaining relationships with local security and emergency services, monitoring the local security situation, and advising on security-related responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Officer's duties include assisting the Chief of Area Office in developing and implementing security risk management processes and security plans. The incumbent will manage security access control procedures and systems, conduct periodic security assessments, and ensure the effectiveness of the guard force. Responsibilities also include preparing and delivering security briefings and training for personnel, advising on the acquisition and inventory control of security equipment, and responding to security incidents. The Security Officer will maintain positive relationships with local authorities, monitor the local security situation, and provide regular updates to the CAO and National Security Officer. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and demonstrate a willingness to work beyond regular hours and respond to emergencies. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, sound judgment, and problem-solving abilities are essential. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and report writing skills are also required. The position necessitates a proactive approach to security management and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A first university degree from an accredited educational institution in security and risk management, political or social science, criminal justice, international relations, business management, or related fields is required for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of responsible and relevant work experience in emergency settings, which may include public, humanitarian, or corporate environments. Experience in security roles is essential, and practical knowledge of the UN system is desirable. Formal training in security and safety measures, as well as proven ability to conduct training, will be advantageous.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. According to the UN Language Framework, candidates must demonstrate at least Level II proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English, and Level I proficiency in Arabic. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, including a one-year probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The monthly basic salary is USD 1,259.40, payable in Jordanian Dinar at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a Provident Fund contribution, dependency allowances, 30 days of annual leave, compulsory medical insurance, sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave.
