Job Overview:
The position of Chauffeur Ambulancier involves providing reliable and safe driving services, ensuring high precision in work. The ambulance driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, a strong sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The role includes transporting UN staff, their dependents, consultants, and experts during missions, under the direct supervision of a physician and general supervision of the clinic coordinator. The ambulance driver must ensure timely and safe transportation of patients, assist medical teams, and maintain the ambulance in good condition, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide reliable and secure driving services, including assisting patients onto stretchers and loading them into the ambulance. Transport critically ill or injured individuals from their homes or accident sites to hospitals, supporting medical teams in patient care and transport. Drive the ambulance swiftly and safely, minimizing incidents related to driving. Ensure adherence to average response times for emergencies and local interventions. Welcome patients and medical staff at the airport when necessary, disinfect the ambulance, and safely dispose of medical waste. Interact effectively with officials and visitors, facilitate airport permits for patients requiring wheelchair evacuation, and ensure compliance with safety protocols for transporting infectious or critically ill patients.
• Ensure immediate measures are taken in case of accidents, including reporting incidents to medical personnel and police, and following required procedures.
• Conduct daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and performing minor repairs while keeping the vehicle clean.
• Ensure availability of all necessary documents and supplies, including vehicle insurance, logs, office directories, city/country maps, first aid kits, and spare parts. Maintain accurate records of fuel transport services and inform administrative assistants when maintenance is initiated by the Transport Unit.
• Perform administrative tasks such as making small purchases and collecting urgent items from local suppliers as requested. Collect goods or medications from pharmacies while adhering to UN regulations. Exercise good judgment in assigned missions and perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Secondary school diploma or equivalent. Driver training with a valid level 3 driving license.
• Experience: At least 2 years of driving experience with a clean driving record. Experience driving ambulances and other vehicles, including vans, is required. Experience in an NGO or UN agency is an asset. Knowledge of gender issues is considered an advantage.
• Skills: Proficiency in French (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of the local language and another UN official language is an asset. Training in first aid is required, and paramedical training is an asset. Additional certificates in automotive maintenance, defensive driving, emergency driving, and accident management are advantageous. Experience with patient care and mobility assistance is preferred. Training in radio communication for coordinating evacuations is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
The position requires a secondary school diploma or equivalent, along with specialized driver training that includes obtaining a valid level 3 driving license. This educational background ensures that the candidate possesses the necessary knowledge and skills to operate an ambulance safely and effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, with a proven track record of safe driving. Experience specifically in driving ambulances and other types of vehicles is essential.
