The role is situated in the Office of Military Affairs (OMA) under the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). The internship is hybrid, allowing for both in-person and telecommuting work, and is expected to last for six months. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that may include: assisting in the drafting and preparation of background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations, and meeting minutes; supporting the organization of intergovernmental meetings, conferences, and side events, providing logistical and administrative support during these events; managing extrabudgetary funds and grants; collecting and systematizing information on military performance and policy issues; conducting outreach and research on current military-related issues; providing editorial support for military guidance documents; assisting in policy development by reviewing and analyzing emerging issues; maintaining databases, websites, and mailing lists; and performing other duties as required by the office.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Candidates should be pursuing or have pursued a degree in areas related to administration, finance, security studies, or similar fields. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite, and show a strong interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a commitment to its ideals.
