Job Overview:
The French Medical Language Editor plays a crucial role within the International Guideline Publications (IGP) team at MSF International. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of language editing for updates to clinical guidelines and essential drugs guidelines, as well as other IGP documents. The editor will work closely with the Translation Project Coordinator and other team members to maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency in medical terminology and style across all French versions of MSF medical guidelines. The role requires a proactive approach to collaboration and communication within the team, as well as a commitment to the continuous improvement of MSF's medical guidelines based on extensive practical experience and scientific literature.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Language Editing: Review and edit French versions of MSF medical guidelines, ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency in terminology and style. Pay particular attention to details such as drug dosages and report any ambiguities in the source text to the Translation Project Coordinator and Medical Content Editor.
• Document Preparation: Ensure that the French texts of clinical guidelines and essential drugs are ready for layout and/or public release.
• External Provider Support: Assist in selecting external French translation service providers and support the Translation Project Coordinator in the recruitment assessment of French language service providers and/or staff.
• Translation: Provide accurate and timely translation from English into French for short IGP documents, such as communication campaigns and website text, as availability permits.
• Team Participation: Actively participate in biweekly meetings, provide updates on progress, contribute to the annual IGP plan of action, and engage in midterm and annual project reviews.
• Transversal Projects: Participate in transversal projects of the IGP team as required.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong language editing skills, particularly in the medical field, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality. Familiarity with medical terminology and guidelines is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A degree in translation, linguistics, or a related field is preferred. Additional qualifications in medical translation or editing would be advantageous. Candidates should have a strong command of both French and English, with a focus on medical language.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in language editing, particularly in the medical or humanitarian sectors. Experience working with translation teams and familiarity with MSF's operational context would be beneficial. A proven track record of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, with excellent English language skills also required. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, particularly in the context of MSF's diverse operations.

Additional Notes:
This position offers a permanent contract at 40% workload, with a starting date as soon as possible. The successful candidate will typically be offered a contract in the MSF office of their country of residence at the time of application. Compensation and benefits will align with MSF's practices in the relevant entity.
