Job Overview: The Writer/Editor III, Institutional Funding is a pivotal role within CRS, responsible for developing high-quality written content that enhances the organization's engagement with institutional donors. This position requires a hands-on approach to writing, editing, and content development, producing materials that effectively communicate CRS's impact and technical expertise. The Writer will work closely with various teams, including Institutional Funding, Global Programs, and Creative and Storytelling, to transform complex programmatic information into clear and persuasive narratives tailored for donor audiences. The role also involves coordinating with social media and digital teams to ensure that content aligns with broader communication strategies and supports donor engagement efforts. The Writer/Editor is expected to maintain high editorial standards and ensure that all content adheres to CRS's brand guidelines and accessibility requirements, while also being adaptable to the fast-paced nature of the work, especially during crises or emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Writer/Editor III will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: writing, editing, and producing donor-focused content such as capacity statements, briefs, pitch materials, concept notes, factsheets, talking points, project overviews, and success stories. The individual will translate technical program information into accessible language, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Coordination with social media and digital teams is essential for shaping content strategy and distribution. The Writer will collaborate with Institutional Funding team members and leadership to create compelling content that highlights CRS's impact and value proposition to institutional donors. Additionally, the role involves supporting resource mobilization efforts, packaging content into visually engaging materials, and adapting narratives for specific donor formats. The Writer will also provide writing and editing support for high-priority organizational needs and contribute to global campaigns and strategic initiatives. Guidance and support for regional and country communications staff will also be part of the responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communication and have a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in marketing strategy and/or communications. Experience working with international non-government organizations and institutional donors is essential, as is experience working overseas in an international organization. A demonstrated portfolio of successfully published articles or projects is preferred, showcasing the candidate's ability to produce high-quality content.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communication. This foundational education is crucial for understanding the principles of effective communication and marketing strategies necessary for engaging with institutional donors and crafting compelling narratives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of work experience in marketing strategy and/or communications, particularly in contexts involving international non-government organizations and institutional donors. Experience working overseas is highly preferred, as it provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by organizations operating in diverse cultural and operational environments.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Spanish or French is preferred, as it enhances the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of institutional donors and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. The Writer/Editor III must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time.
