Job Overview:
The Front-End Developer position at CRS involves building, enhancing, and maintaining user-facing features across the organization's primary website and related microsites. This role requires a combination of strong front-end development skills and an understanding of content management systems, particularly Drupal and WordPress. The developer will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that the websites provide outstanding user experiences that align with CRS's mission and brand. The position emphasizes responsive web development, accessibility, and modern front-end workflows, requiring a keen eye for detail and design to effectively promote CRS's online presence. The developer will also be responsible for implementing and enhancing themes and templates, collaborating with designers to translate mockups into production-ready code, and ensuring adherence to web content accessibility guidelines and performance optimization best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Front-End Developer will be tasked with developing and styling responsive front-end components and page layouts using HTML, SCSS/CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+). Key responsibilities include implementing and enhancing Drupal (10+) themes, templates, and Layout Builder components, collaborating with designers and UX staff to translate design mockups into accessible, production-ready code, and maintaining visual consistency across all digital platforms. The developer will support ongoing front-end improvements, bug fixes, and enhancements for both Drupal and WordPress websites, configure and update Drupal modules and themes, and ensure compliance with web content accessibility guidelines and SEO best practices. Additional duties include conducting cross-browser and device testing, participating in quality assurance and user acceptance testing, documenting front-end processes, and staying informed about new front-end technologies to recommend improvements to development processes and tooling.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, design, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required, with mid-level experience in building and maintaining responsive websites using Drupal 9+ or other PHP-based CMSs. Applicants should have experience developing websites in Drupal using Twig templating, custom theming, and Layout Builder, as well as familiarity with Node.js and NPM for build tools and package management. Proficiency in Git and local development environments such as DDEV or Lando is also necessary, along with experience collaborating with designers using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Suite.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, design, or a related field. This foundational education is essential for understanding the technical and design aspects of web development, which are critical for the role of Front-End Developer at CRS.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in front-end development, specifically in building and maintaining responsive websites using Drupal 9+ or other PHP-based content management systems. Additional Notes:
The position is based in Baltimore, United States, and candidates must be able to work in U.S. time zones. The role may require occasional travel, up to 5%. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
