Job Posting Organization:
UN Women, established in July 2010, is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. The West & Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO) plays a crucial role in supporting these initiatives and enhancing visibility for gender-related issues in the region.

Job Overview:
The Regional Communication Analyst will report to the Regional Communication Specialist and is tasked with developing and implementing communication and advocacy strategies to enhance the visibility of UN Women’s work in the West and Central African region. This role involves managing digital platforms, including the Regional Office website and social media accounts, to effectively reach various audiences such as media, program partners, and civil society organizations. The analyst will also support the regional communication team in liaising with country offices and other units within the regional office, ensuring that communication strategies are aligned with UN Women’s goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Regional Communication Analyst include planning and designing communication and outreach strategies, conducting communication needs assessments, analyzing requirements for communication strategies, and integrating gender perspectives into proposals. The analyst will coordinate the development and dissemination of advocacy materials, manage media relations, and maintain the regional office's online presence. Responsibilities also include building partnerships with donors, managing relationships with the press, organizing events such as press conferences, and ensuring that communication materials are produced and disseminated effectively. The analyst will also be responsible for monitoring and analyzing media coverage and drafting reports on communication activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a relevant field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. The position requires at least 2 years of professional work experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy, with a strong emphasis on media relations and social media usage. Proficiency in office software and web-based management systems is essential, and experience with modern ERP systems is desirable.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if accompanied by relevant experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, or advocacy. Experience in media relations and social media outreach is essential, along with proficiency in using office software and web-based management systems.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is considered desirable.
