Job Overview: The National Consultant for Data Visualization will play a crucial role in developing a Power BI dashboard that maps vulnerabilities across various sectors such as Health, Nutrition, Education, and Child Protection. This position requires a strong human-rights-based and equity-focused approach, with an emphasis on cross-cutting themes like gender and climate resilience. The consultant will transform raw data into actionable visualizations, aiding in evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning for UNICEF's interventions in Zimbabwe. The dashboard will serve as a tool for monitoring results and understanding the environment affecting children's rights, ultimately guiding UNICEF's operational decisions across the country.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying interactive dashboards that support evidence-based decision-making. Key tasks include conducting data assessments, collaborating with various teams to understand dashboard requirements, producing digital mapping of operational areas, and ensuring the integration of data from multiple sources. The consultant will also validate data quality, conduct usability testing, and prepare user guides for the dashboards. Additionally, the consultant will run training sessions for users and ensure that the dashboards are user-friendly and accessible across different devices. The expected deliverables include fully functional interactive dashboards, a dashboard development plan, and a final report summarizing activities and recommendations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in public health, health policy, health economics, international relations, computer science, or a related field. They should have previous experience working on Health and Nutrition dashboards, as well as knowledge of data management and visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Tableau. A minimum of 2 years of substantive experience in data visualization and analysis is required, along with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and other statistical packages is also necessary. Experience within the UN system, particularly with UNICEF, is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in relevant fields such as public health, health policy, health economics, international relations, or computer science is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively analyze and visualize data related to children's rights and well-being.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of substantive experience in data visualization, particularly using Microsoft Power BI. Candidates should have experience in data management and analysis, with a proven ability to handle complex information and large datasets. Experience in working on Health and Nutrition dashboards and emergency response dashboards is a plus, as is the ability to collaborate with diverse groups and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
