Job Overview: The Budget & Programming Assistant position at WFP is designed to provide essential technical support for the efficient planning, monitoring, and analysis of project financial performance. The role is crucial for enhancing the optimal use of financial resources within the organization. The assistant will work closely with the Head of Budget & Programming, contributing to the review of budget plans and ensuring compliance with WFP financial policies and procedures. The assistant will also play a key role in pipeline management, ensuring that operational effectiveness is maximized and that resources are deployed efficiently in response to emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the review of budget plans, monitoring, and analysis of project financial performance, making recommendations in compliance with WFP financial policies and procedures.
Provide basic analysis on fund and grant balances, referring discrepancies to the supervisor to support maximum fund utilization.
Facilitate pipeline management to prevent and address pipeline breaks, maximizing operational effectiveness.
Enter accurate data into corporate systems within established deadlines to enable easy access to information for planning and decision-making.
Compile data and provide basic analysis, maintaining accurate records and preparing periodic and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain communication with individuals regarding project funds management to clarify discrepancies and optimize fund usage.
Provide guidance and on-the-job training to other staff in budget planning and fund management.
Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can respond quickly to crises.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a completion of secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial documentation and budget analysis, as well as experience in data collection and pipeline management. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
