Job Overview:
The Protection Officer (Case Management) will play a crucial role in the implementation of protection activities within the Dawei Field Office. This position involves working closely with vulnerable populations, including refugees and internally displaced persons, to assess their needs and provide appropriate support. The officer will be responsible for managing individual cases, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the necessary assistance and protection services. This role requires a strong understanding of protection principles and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance the well-being of affected individuals. The officer will also be expected to contribute to the development of protection strategies and participate in capacity-building initiatives within the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments of individual cases to identify protection needs and develop tailored support plans.
  • Provide case management services, including follow-up and monitoring of beneficiaries' progress.
  • Collaborate with other NRC sectors and external partners to ensure a holistic approach to protection.
  • Facilitate access to essential services such as legal aid, psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support, and livelihood opportunities for beneficiaries.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
  • Participate in training and capacity-building activities for staff and partners on protection issues and case management best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of protection-related reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with community members to raise awareness about protection rights and available services.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of protection principles and case management practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to NRC's safeguarding policies and a zero-tolerance approach to exploitation and abuse.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, international relations, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in protection, case management, or humanitarian response will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in protection, case management, or humanitarian work is required. Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in crisis settings, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local context and challenges faced by displaced communities in Myanmar will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in local languages, such as Burmese or other regional dialects, is highly desirable and will enhance communication with beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role based in the Dawei Field Office, with an expected travel requirement of 80% to various project sites. The contract duration is until June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.
