The UN operates in various countries, including Eswatini, where it aims to support sustainable development and humanitarian efforts. The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Eswatini, ensuring effective collaboration among different UN agencies to enhance operational activities and partnerships with the government and other stakeholders.

Job Overview:
The position of Partnerships and Financing for Development Intern at the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Eswatini is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in multilateral development work. The intern will support the UNCT in its mission to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Eswatini. The role involves providing evidence-based economic policy analysis and advice, which is crucial for the implementation of the UN Development Framework (UNDAF). The intern will work closely with the Partnerships and Financing for Development Officer and will be involved in strategic analysis, planning, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the UN's operations in the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the UNRCO's capacity to engage with strategic stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the mapping and analysis of potential partners and stakeholders relevant to the UN's mission in Eswatini.
  • Conducting research to inform partnership strategies and initiatives.
  • Assisting in the coordination of efforts across UN agencies and with external stakeholders to foster collaboration.
  • Contributing to the preparation and monitoring of the UNDAF and other strategic documents.
  • Engaging in joint advocacy and communication efforts to promote the UN's objectives and initiatives in the country.
  • Participating in meetings and discussions to provide insights and recommendations based on research findings.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants for this internship are not required to have prior professional work experience. However, candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant academic program. The preferred qualifications include a university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in fields such as economics, economic policy, public policy, or related disciplines. Additionally, candidates should possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in statistical analysis tools, and effective writing and presentation abilities. An interest in coordination and volunteerism as mechanisms for sustainable development is also desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent, or they should have completed a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program. This educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus on economic policy and development. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree will be required during the application process.

Experience:
While no professional experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate a strong academic background in relevant fields. Experience in research, analysis, or any related internships will be considered an asset, but it is not mandatory. Languages:
