Job Overview: The position involves supporting the UNICEF ECAR Health team in enhancing the evidence base regarding child health and the provision of essential services for children in the Europe and Central Asia region. The volunteer will play a crucial role in improving internal and external communications and partnerships, thereby increasing the visibility of UNICEF's health and nutrition initiatives. This role requires translating complex health-related subjects into accessible formats suitable for various media and audiences, including UNICEF staff, policymakers, and the general public. The volunteer will contribute to the development of communication products that raise awareness about the impacts of health initiatives on children and their families, fostering collaboration with stakeholders to support resource mobilization and policy influencing efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the content and design of Country Profiles and best practice/success stories related to health and nutrition.
Utilize simple and practical visualizations, graphics, and photos to communicate health-related concepts effectively.
Solicit information and drafts from Country Offices, review submissions, and collaborate with editors and designers to finalize materials.
Ensure that all profiles and stories are accessible on both internal and external websites in coordination with the ECARO Communications team.
Engage with various stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on health initiatives and their impacts on children.
Assist in the development of advocacy materials that highlight the importance of health systems strengthening and essential service coverage for children.
Required Qualifications:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
Proficiency in graphic design and content creation tools to develop visually appealing materials.
Familiarity with child health and nutrition issues, particularly in the context of Europe and Central Asia.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Educational Background: A background in public health, communications, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of health systems and child health issues, as well as experience in advocacy and knowledge management.
Experience: Previous experience in health communication, advocacy, or related fields is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and work in child health and nutrition will be an advantage. Experience working in international organizations or NGOs is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region, such as Russian or local languages, is considered an asset.
