Job Overview:
The Driver (HTV) position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the efficient and safe transportation of authorized personnel and commodities. The job holder will be stationed at the Achini Bala warehouse in Peshawar, Pakistan, and will report directly to the Logistics Associate Warehouse. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate various vehicles, including UN Fleet trucks and forklifts, to facilitate warehouse operations. The driver will also be responsible for performing minor vehicle maintenance, ensuring that all vehicles are in good working condition, and adhering to safety protocols. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and readiness for missions, as well as a proactive approach to reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns. The role is not only about driving but also involves logistical support, such as delivering and collecting documents and mail between the main office and the warehouse, and managing fuel supplies for warehouse generators. The ideal candidate will be someone who is reliable, has a strong sense of responsibility, and is capable of working in a diverse and dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Driver (HTV) include but are not limited to: driving UN Fleet trucks and other vehicles for warehouse operations; performing daily checks and basic maintenance on vehicles; reporting any mechanical failures or damages to the supervisor; delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items; managing fuel collection for warehouse generators; maintaining cleanliness of vehicles; logging official trips, daily mileage, and fuel consumption; ensuring vehicles are ready for missions as per UN requirements; performing minor repairs and arranging for necessary repairs; maintaining vigilance regarding security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situations; providing translation of basic information when required; and performing other related duties as assigned. The driver must also demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, and tact when dealing with colleagues and the public, and must be able to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and perform minor repairs as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid HTV driver’s license and certification to operate assigned vehicles in accordance with local rules and regulations. A strong understanding of driving rules, safety standards, and vehicle maintenance is essential. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated safe driving record and the ability to read and interpret vehicle operation manuals. Additionally, candidates should exhibit a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact in their interactions with others, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. Formal driver training is essential, along with a valid HTV driver’s license. Candidates should have a solid understanding of local driving regulations and safety protocols to ensure compliance and safety during operations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of work experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. Candidates should have experience driving a variety of vehicles, including vans and trucks, and should possess a demonstrated safe driving record. Experience in defensive driving is desirable, as is familiarity with the local roads and security issues.

Languages:
Fluency in the UN language used at the duty station is mandatory, along with proficiency in the local language if it differs. This ensures effective communication with both international staff and local stakeholders, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

This position is offered under a Service Contract for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
