Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UN Women, established in July 2010, is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. It was created as part of the UN reform agenda to consolidate resources and mandates for greater impact on gender equality and women's empowerment. UN Women merges the work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system that focused on these issues. The organization operates globally, with a significant presence in the Pacific region, including the Fiji Multi-Country Office based in Suva, Fiji, which collaborates with over twenty other UN agencies across fourteen countries in the Pacific.

Job Overview:
The Programme Coordinator for the Pacific Partnership is tasked with leading the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Pacific Partnership Programme in Kiribati. This role is crucial in ensuring that the activities under the Pacific Partnership are executed effectively and that there is strong ownership and collaboration among government, UN, and civil society partners. The position involves engaging with local, national, and regional women leaders and stakeholders to ensure programmatic and technical excellence across the continuum of primary prevention through response to violence against women and girls. The coordinator will also support the implementation of the EVAWG initiatives and ensure timely delivery of the Pacific Partnership Country Plan for Kiribati, while also facilitating capacity building and monitoring and evaluation processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Coordinator include leading the planning and coordination of the Pacific Partnership Programme, maintaining working level coordination mechanisms with government and civil society partners, ensuring clear communication among all stakeholders, organizing partner meetings, facilitating the preparation of work plans and budgets, consolidating work plans and financial information, coordinating with other UN agencies and NGOs, providing secretariat services, ensuring compliance with work plans and commitments, managing financial resources, and supporting partners in implementing programme activities. The coordinator will also oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the programme, ensuring transparency and compliance with donor requirements, and lead knowledge creation and dissemination related to EVAW.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in a development-related discipline, such as gender issues, public policy, social work, or other social science fields. A first-level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification (e.g., PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) is considered an advantage. Candidates should have strong programme formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, as well as budget and finance skills, and knowledge of Results Based Management.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree in a relevant field related to development, gender issues, or social sciences. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project management certification is also beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or international level in managing programme interventions, preferably related to gender equality and violence against women. This includes direct experience in service delivery, primary prevention, advocacy, policy development, and research. Familiarity with Pacific countries and cultures, especially Kiribati, is essential, and experience working with the UN System is an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of the local language, Kiribati, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is expected to be full-time and may involve international collaboration. The specific contract duration and compensation details are not mentioned in the job description. Candidates should be aware that UN Women has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with its aims and objectives, including discrimination and harassment. All selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
