Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The FJDI (Foundation for Justice, Development, and Integrity) is dedicated to working with children, youth, women, and communities in northern Uganda to promote justice, development, and economic recovery. Established to address the long-term impacts of the conflict that affected the region, FJDI advocates for the redress of human rights violations and atrocities committed during this tumultuous period. The organization focuses on implementing sustainable development initiatives and promoting economic empowerment through various livelihood programs. FJDI operates under the belief that holistic justice, which combines judicial mechanisms of redress with development and economic empowerment, is essential for the victims of conflict. The organization has received funding from notable entities such as the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, and the Education, Justice, and Memory Network (EdJAM), enabling it to carry out impactful projects aimed at strengthening peace-building, post-conflict recovery, and governance in Uganda.

Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Designer at FJDI is crucial for the finalization of the organization's annual report for 202
  • The report has already been drafted, and the selected volunteer will be responsible for enhancing its visual appeal through graphic design. This role involves inserting relevant photographs, designing an attractive cover and back page, and applying a professional finishing touch to the report. The designer will have the flexibility to use graphic design software of their choice, allowing for creativity and personal style in the presentation of the report. This task is not only about aesthetics but also about ensuring that the report effectively communicates the organization's mission and achievements over the past year. The final copy of the report will be published on FJDI's website, making it essential that the design aligns with the organization's branding and messaging.

  • Create a visually appealing back page that provides additional information or a summary of the report.
  • Utilize graphic design software to apply professional finishing touches, ensuring high-quality visuals that are suitable for publication.
  • Collaborate with FJDI staff to incorporate feedback and make necessary adjustments to the design.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with FJDI staff and incorporate feedback into the design process.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field is preferred. Formal education in design is an asset, but practical experience and a strong portfolio may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Experience:
Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in creating reports, publications, or marketing materials, is highly desirable. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in a similar context is a plus, as it may provide valuable insights into the mission-driven nature of the work.
