Job Overview:
In this role, you will be part of the Victim Connect service, which supports victims of violent crime across Queensland. Your primary responsibility will be to provide case management and a range of specialist supports, both in-person and online, to help victims overcome the impact of violence. This position is a fixed-term contract through to the end of June 2027, requiring you to work in an 8-day fortnight (60.8 hours). You will be based in either Brisbane, Townsville, or Mount Isa and will report to the Team Leader of the QLD Programs team. The role emphasizes the importance of trauma-informed practices and requires you to conduct thorough risk and needs assessments while assisting victims in developing emotional regulation strategies and providing holistic support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will include providing specialist support, psychoeducation, counselling, information, referrals, and case management to victims of violent crime, including domestic violence and sexualized violence. You will offer brief counselling interventions, assist with financial assistance applications, and educate victims on court processes. Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments within a trauma-informed case management framework is essential. Additionally, you will assist victim/survivors in developing emotional regulation strategies and provide additional holistic support tailored to their needs.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, or a relevant Human Services qualification, along with significant experience in a similar role. A thorough understanding of trauma-informed practice is essential, as is experience working within a counselling role or similar. Strong teamwork and communication skills are necessary, as well as a current driver's license and Blue Card. You should also have a suitable space to work from home, as the role involves a hybrid model of both office and home-based service delivery.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a relevant qualification in Human Services. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of trauma and the necessary interventions to support victims effectively.

Experience:
The position requires an experienced case manager who has worked with individuals who have experienced trauma. You should be able to respond calmly and effectively in complex situations, demonstrating high levels of initiative and flexibility. Experience in a counselling role or similar is essential, as is a thorough understanding of the impacts of domestic violence and sexual assault.
