Job Overview: The Financial Analyst position at the World Bank in Chennai is integral to the Structured Finance Division (WFASF), which focuses on product control functions for financial instruments, including borrowings, derivatives, and investments. The role involves working collaboratively within a team to manage the accounting and pricing/valuation of financial instruments, as well as implementing various projects. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for producing and reviewing valuations, analyzing market data, ensuring quality control, and verifying trade setups. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to interact with various stakeholders, including internal and external auditors, to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. The role also emphasizes the importance of maintaining high ethical standards and delivering results that meet client needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: producing and reviewing valuations for financial instruments using systems like Numerix OneView and Murex; analyzing and comparing valuations against counterparty valuations; preparing and ensuring the quality of market data; verifying trade setups; computing lending rates; applying internal controls; identifying and resolving discrepancies; developing expectations and performing analyses; preparing financial and management reports; coordinating with auditors; interacting with WFA colleagues and Treasury units; identifying process improvement opportunities; leading institutional projects; maintaining documentation and internal controls; and mentoring junior staff. The role requires a commitment to achieving individual and team results while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, or Economics, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, CA, CPA, ACCA, or CGMA are preferred. A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics may be considered in lieu of the aforementioned certifications. Professional experience with major financial institutions and practical knowledge of product control functions related to financial instruments is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial modeling, and familiarity with programming languages such as Python.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, or Economics. Advanced degrees such as a Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or Economics are advantageous and may substitute for certain professional certifications.
