Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Earth Observation Programmes at the ESA Φ-lab, which aims to accelerate the future of Earth Observation by fostering disruptive innovation. The intern will support the development of tools for the InCubed commercialisation programme, which is designed to enhance entrepreneurial initiatives in the Earth Observation sector. The role involves maintaining and improving internal tools, assisting with database migration, enhancing data visualization through Power BI, and implementing new digital solutions to streamline proposal preparation for ESA programmes. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in IT systems within a dynamic environment, contributing to the advancement of the European space ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain internal tools that support the Invest team’s daily operations, including enhancing existing Excel-based solutions for generating evaluation reports.
Assist in the migration of internal databases to SharePoint Online, ensuring data accuracy and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.
Contribute to the improvement of Power BI dashboards, making them more interactive and insightful for decision-making.
Support the design and implementation of new tools that guide companies in preparing high-quality proposals for ESA programmes.
Analyze the existing IT infrastructure of the Φ-lab, identify areas for improvement, and propose plans to enhance efficiency and collaboration.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be university students, preferably at the master’s level, and must demonstrate enrollment at their university for the entire duration of the internship. A strong interest in the intersection of technology and commercial applications of space technology is essential. Additionally, candidates should possess good knowledge of English or French, with knowledge of another ESA Member State language being an asset.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be enrolled in a master’s degree program in a business subject or a technology discipline. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the commercial exploitation of space technology and the operational needs of the ESA.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in IT systems and their application in a commercial environment. Any relevant internships or projects that showcase skills in data management, software development, or IT support will be advantageous.
Languages: The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good command of one of these languages is required, while knowledge of another ESA Member State language is considered an asset.
