The OHCHR integrates human rights into development and economic spheres, widens democratic spaces, and provides early warning and protection of human rights in situations of conflict, violence, and insecurity. The organization has been operational since its establishment and continues to work towards the protection of human rights globally, with a focus on empowering individuals to realize their rights and assisting those responsible for upholding these rights. Job Overview: The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern will be part of the Communications and Public Mobilization Section (CPMS) within the External Outreach and Partnerships Service (EOPS) of the OHCHR. This internship is designed to provide students with practical experience in the field of human rights communications and public mobilization. The intern will support the OHCHR in its mission to protect human rights for all people and will engage in various activities aimed at raising awareness of human rights issues. The intern's daily responsibilities will vary based on their background and may include researching current human rights issues, assisting with the development and coordination of social media accounts, and supporting Office campaigns such as Human Rights Day and International Women's Day. The intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of engaging content for social media platforms, utilizing their skills in video and graphic design to enhance the visibility of human rights topics.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties that may include: researching current human rights issues to support communication and public information outreach; assisting in the management of OHCHR's social media accounts, including daily postings and campaign coordination; researching social media trends for effective visualization and communication of human rights topics; assisting the Communications team in sourcing iconography and images from the Office's databases; developing concepts for Office campaigns and presenting ideas clearly; responding to requests for drafting social media posts and creating engaging visuals, graphics, and videos; using Adobe Creative Cloud applications for layout, image editing, and vector drawing; and performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. No prior work experience is required for this internship, but candidates should demonstrate skills and knowledge that would benefit the United Nations during their internship. Specifically, the ability to create video or graphic design items for social media posts is essential. Candidates should also have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant academic program, such as a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree. The internship is particularly suited for students who are in their final year of study, as they will be able to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting within the United Nations framework.
Experience: No prior work experience is necessary to apply for this internship. However, candidates should possess skills and knowledge that can contribute to the work of the United Nations. This may include coursework, training, or skills relevant to communications, public information, or human rights advocacy.
