Job Overview:
The position of International Consultant for Road Safety involves supporting the review and enhancement of road safety measures in several Arab countries. The consultant will ensure that these measures align with international standards and global plans for road safety, particularly the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–203
  • The role includes implementing a review of road design standards, developing a digital form for crash investigation, advocating for policy alterations, and building the capacities of officials to utilize modern technologies for road safety management. The consultant's contributions will lead to the development of updated, evidence-based road safety tools that prioritize safety and accessibility for all road users. This position is crucial in the overarching goal of halving road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030, as outlined in the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–203
  • The work location is at the UN-House, and the expected duration of the assignment is three months.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The International Consultant will be required to perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: researching, compiling, analyzing, summarizing, and presenting basic information and data related to road safety issues in the Arab region; systematically following through and retrieving information on road safety from various sources; preparing inputs on road safety policies as required; participating in the delivery of activities related to road safety policies; preparing statistical tables and graphs; assisting in the preparation of presentations and background materials on road safety deliverables; undertaking specific analyses on selected subjects related to road safety; developing manuals, policy papers, and guides for using certain road safety tools; assisting in project management tasks; and carrying out any other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in engineering, with a specialization in Transportation or Road Safety. Additionally, all candidates are required to submit a copy of their educational degree, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of two years of professional work experience in the field of research is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, and knowledge of transport and road safety issues is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in engineering, specifically with a focus on Transportation or Road Safety. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of road safety measures and their implementation in various contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional work experience in the field of research.
