The FAO Country Office in Bhutan specifically supports the Royal Government of Bhutan in enhancing agricultural productivity, improving food systems, and conserving natural resources, thereby playing a vital role in the country's rural development initiatives.

Job Overview:
The Communication Assistant position is integral to the FAO's mission in Bhutan, focusing on enhancing the visibility and communication of the organization's activities. The role involves working closely with the Communication Specialist and the Assistant FAO Representative to implement communication strategies that align with FAO's corporate standards. The Communication Assistant will be responsible for creating engaging content, managing social media platforms, and ensuring that all communication materials adhere to FAO branding guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to developing multimedia content and supporting various communication initiatives that promote the FAO's projects and programs in Bhutan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in drafting and editing press releases, communication materials, and reports; supporting the production of multimedia content such as videography and photography; preparing presentations and media contact lists; developing social media posts and blog articles; monitoring media coverage and compiling visibility reports; providing administrative support to the communications team; organizing outreach and networking events; managing FAO Bhutan’s external image; maintaining communication databases; and providing logistical support for creative outputs. The role requires collaboration with the Office of Communications to ensure compliance with FAO standards and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of three years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, and institutional communications is required. Proficiency in English at a working knowledge level (C) is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of Dzongkha. Candidates must be nationals of Bhutan or residents with a valid work permit.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations is essential for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective communication strategies and media relations.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in communications-related work. This experience should encompass media relations, monitoring, and institutional communications, demonstrating the candidate's ability to effectively manage communication strategies and engage with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a working knowledge level (C) required. Additionally, knowledge of Dzongkha is also necessary, as it is one of the official languages of Bhutan and will facilitate better communication within the local context.
