Job Overview: The Field Associate (CCCM) position is designed for a motivated and field-oriented humanitarian practitioner who has hands-on experience in community engagement, site management, and the implementation of CCCM (Camp Coordination and Camp Management), Shelter, and Non-Food Item (NFI) activities. The role requires the incumbent to possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, enabling them to work effectively in challenging environments that may be access-constrained and politically sensitive. A commitment to humanitarian principles and the protection of displaced populations is essential. The Field Associate will support daily CCCM, Shelter, and NFI activities in camps and host communities, engage with Camp Management Agencies (CMAs) to ensure inclusive site management, monitor site conditions, and identify service delivery gaps. The position also involves identifying risks and urgent needs, facilitating distributions, promoting community engagement, and liaising with partners and NGOs to support activities. The Field Associate will assist in site-level coordination meetings, collect and verify field data, and support timely reporting and analysis for planning purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Associate (CCCM) will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting and providing CCCM Cluster Coordination support by organizing meetings and ensuring the Shelter Cluster's calendar is updated; ensuring the availability of data for developing cluster-related documents and tools; archiving all CCCM strategic data and documents; establishing strong working relationships with cluster members; supporting needs assessments and gap analysis; ensuring timely access to CCCM analyses; conducting mapping exercises for ongoing assessments; delivering training activities for CCCM Cluster members; ensuring logistical requirements for capacity development initiatives are met; providing timely feedback on progress reports for CCCM-related projects; supporting the Cluster Chair Coordinator in improving information management; and contributing to the preparation of reports and advocacy statements on behalf of the CCCM Cluster. The Field Associate will also monitor the situation in the Area of Responsibility (AoR), collect relevant data, and report to the supervisor, ensuring effective communication with local authorities and implementing partners.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include knowledge of CCCM standards and humanitarian principles, strong community engagement and communication skills, and proficiency in information management and reporting tools such as Excel and ActivityInfo. The candidate should demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and resilience in complex environments. Additionally, completion of UNHCR learning programs or specific training relevant to the functions of the position is desirable, along with UNHCR field experience.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Law, or Political Science. Certifications in these areas are considered essential for the role. The educational background should equip the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effectively in a humanitarian context, particularly in relation to CCCM and community engagement.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience for candidates with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in humanitarian settings, particularly in CCCM, Shelter, and NFI activities, is highly valued. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in challenging environments and engaging with displaced populations and local communities.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with knowledge of local languages such as Burmese and Kachin. Proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station is also required. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse communities and stakeholders.
