Job Overview:
The Financial Coordinator position is crucial for coordinating financial and accounting operations within the organization. This role involves providing overall financial monitoring and support to project finance and operations staff, ensuring the fiscal health of the organization. The Financial Coordinator will conduct analyses of financial data, prepare budget analyses for project funds, and review reports to ensure compliance with donor requirements. The position requires a proactive approach to guiding financial success through high-level analytical expertise, implementing business strategies, and developing strong customer relationships. Additionally, the Financial Coordinator will provide analysis and business modeling support on strategic initiatives for senior management and field operations, analyze performance trends, and present results effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Financial Coordinator will be responsible for analyzing budget forecasts, regulatory filings, and compiling moderately complex data. They will interpret and evaluate financial data, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal statutes while utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP). The role requires developing and maintaining effective working relationships with regulated industries, consultants, management, and staff. The Financial Coordinator will also interpret discrepancies in financial data, apply updated information technology to facilitate program goals, and deliver formal presentations tailored to the audience's needs. They will interact with industry representatives and officials to resolve issues, document complex issues, and articulate written conclusions. The position involves reviewing and editing the work of others, presenting oral and written testimony on complex issues, and using financial systems to produce reports and financial models.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of financial management, investment capital, risk analysis, debt management, and legal and regulatory compliance relevant to the industry. Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Fundamentals is required, along with advanced skills in spreadsheet software. Excellent oral and written communication skills, quantitative and analytical skills, and strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential. The ability to analyze and interpret financial data, identify and resolve errors, and prepare comprehensive reports is also necessary. Candidates should be able to motivate and work collaboratively with others.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent is required for this position. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in finance, accounting, or a related field, equipping candidates with the necessary skills to perform the duties of the Financial Coordinator effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have 5 to 8 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, and operational management, particularly in a government contracting environment. Familiarity with U.S. Government grants, contracting, and auditing standards is preferred, as it applies to the effective management of multi-year funds. Experience in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government, or the private sector is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as candidates must be able to read, write, and speak the language proficiently. Additionally, fluency in the host country language is preferred, as it may be relevant to the role and the local context.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in a typical office environment, requiring the ability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen and performing repetitive tasks on a keyboard. Candidates should be able to sit and stand for extended periods and lift or move up to 5 lbs. The role involves less than 10% travel.
