Job Overview: The Strategic Initiatives Consultant position within UNICEF’s Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) is focused on engaging the entertainment industry to enhance UNICEF's fundraising capabilities. The consultant will support UNICEF's marketing and fundraising efforts specifically targeting the music, arts, and gaming industries. This role is crucial for developing and executing global marketing campaigns and fundraising strategies through the new platform 'Every Play for Every Child.' The consultant will work closely with the Corporate Alliances Manager and various stakeholders to ensure that UNICEF's marketing initiatives not only achieve visibility but also generate significant financial results through strategic partnerships. The position emphasizes the importance of building a pipeline of partnership opportunities and effectively monetizing UNICEF's platform to drive both marketing and fundraising successes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for leading the development of strategies for the Gaming and Arts industries, which includes:
Developing UNICEF’s offering and fundraising strategy for the Gaming sector.
Creating and maintaining operational processes for the industry at UNICEF.
Delivering global marketing campaigns and activations for both B2B and B2C audiences.
Developing fundraising mechanisms and tools to support the global strategy.
Capacity building with fundraising markets and overseeing their partnership development.
Leading and participating in global partnership efforts.
Creating fundraising and marketing assets for the private sector.
Coordinating marketing and communications efforts.
Leading budget management, work planning, reporting, and KPIs. 1
Leading the global market working group and organizing global workshops. The consultant will also be responsible for delivering various key documents and reports by specified deadlines, ensuring that all deliverables meet UNICEF's standards and contribute to the organization's mission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in fields such as human-centric design, ICT, business management, project management, information technology management, business administration, gaming industry management, or a related technical field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additional training in a related field is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of fundraising, partnership development, project management, and knowledge management, particularly in relation to the entertainment industry.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as human-centric design, ICT, business management, project management, information technology management, business administration, or gaming industry management is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying professional experience may also be accepted. Additional training in related fields is advantageous and will enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in fundraising, partnership development, project management, and knowledge management is required. Candidates should have experience working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHWNI), philanthropy, and corporate audiences, with a strong understanding of their motivations and how to leverage insights for fundraising and marketing activations. Proven experience in managing competing priorities and deadlines, developing new fundraising models, and leading fundraising events is essential. Experience in the NGO sector, particularly with UNICEF or UN organizations, as well as familiarity with the entertainment industry, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of an additional UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset. Familiarity with a UNICEF National Committee language is also advantageous and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Additional Notes: The consultancy role may involve travel, which will be covered by UNICEF and is not included in the lump sum fees. Candidates are required to submit their all-inclusive fees against the deliverables outlined in the job description. Payment will be based on the successful submission of agreed deliverables. It is important to note that individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered staff members and will not be entitled to benefits provided to staff. Selected candidates must ensure their visa and health insurance are valid for the duration of the contract. Additionally, candidates must confirm their fully vaccinated status against COVID-19 with a WHO-endorsed vaccine prior to commencing the assignment, unless they are working remotely.
