Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in developing the Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery (SDNM) for the period 2026-203
This position involves conducting comprehensive reviews to identify gaps in the current nursing and midwifery framework, leading the development of a new strategic document, and ensuring that the strategy aligns with the goals of the MOHCC. The consultant will be responsible for facilitating consultative meetings, finalizing a situation analysis report, and validating the SDNM document. The role requires a deep understanding of the nursing and midwifery landscape in Zimbabwe and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the strategy. The consultant will also be tasked with delivering a launch and dissemination plan for the SDNM to relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the new strategy is effectively communicated and understood.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct desk reviews and consultative meetings to identify gaps in the current nursing and midwifery framework.
Finalize the situation analysis report based on findings from the reviews and meetings.
Lead the development of the SDNM document, ensuring it meets the MOHCC format and guidelines.
Validate the SDNM with stakeholders and submit the final document to the MOHCC and UNFPA.
Prepare an inception report detailing the proposed methodology and work outline for the SDNM development.
Draft the first version of the SDNM and incorporate feedback for the final version.
Create a PowerPoint presentation to disseminate the SDNM development process and outputs.
Develop a launch and dissemination plan for the SDNM to engage stakeholders effectively.
Ensure that the SDNM aligns with the broader goals of Universal Health Coverage and addresses emerging health challenges in Zimbabwe.
Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in Nursing, Nursing Education, Administration, Midwifery Education, or a related field.
Direct experience with nursing and midwifery services and education.
Proven track record in developing educational and clinical nursing and midwifery programs, with samples of previous work as evidence.
Minimum of ten (10) years of extensive involvement in educational or training programs.
At least five (5) years of work experience in clinical settings, engaging with grassroots, district, provincial, and tertiary levels.
Experience in developing health-related strategic directions.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Nursing, Nursing Education, Administration, or Midwifery Education. Higher degrees are considered an added advantage, indicating a deeper level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in nursing and midwifery education and practice.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of ten (10) years of extensive involvement in educational or training programs related to nursing and midwifery. Additionally, candidates should have at least five (5) years of work experience in clinical settings, demonstrating their ability to engage with various levels of healthcare delivery, from grassroots to tertiary care.
