Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Officer will be responsible for a wide range of activities, including but not limited to: supporting the creation and execution of supply chain strategies; contributing to the planning and implementation of supply chain operations; analyzing supply chain processes and generating reports for operational improvements; building strong relationships with supply chain teams and external partners; leading financial reviews and budget analyses; managing Bilateral Service Provision activities; creating accurate reports and dashboards; training warehouse staff on logistics systems; monitoring food delivery processes; participating in emergency response roles; and ensuring data accuracy in logistics operations. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing logistics activities and ensuring that all operations align with WFP's standards and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, computer science, statistics, or economics, preferably with a focus on transport economics. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional relevant logistics work experience is acceptable. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of supply chain management principles and practices, as well as experience in logistics operations and project management. Proficiency in analyzing operational contexts and troubleshooting issues is essential, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with transportation providers and third parties.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as supply chain management, business administration, engineering, computer science, statistics, or economics. A first university degree combined with relevant work experience in logistics is also acceptable. Candidates should have a solid foundation in logistics principles and practices, as well as a strong analytical background to support decision-making processes.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, economics, or related fields. Experience in analyzing operational contexts, troubleshooting logistical issues, and managing supply chain performance is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have experience in coordinating with transportation providers, leading teams, and managing budgets effectively. Familiarity with project management principles and practices is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
